Native Plants
You always hear the benefits of planting native flowers and grasses in your yard. I want to know why? Some benefits are obvious such as the native insects will be more attracted to them, but what else? I asked this question on www.expertcentral.com I posed the question to an expert in botany and landscaping. I am hoping to get a whole list of facts concerning the topic. I will post the answer- but you can go to expert central and find the plant/landscaping tag to see the answer. Thanks, Steve

Hello! An answer to your question:
Hello- I live in Central Indiana and often hear that I should only plant perennials native to Indiana. What are the benefits to planting only native plants? Do you know of any resource I could use to order native plants?
Thank you very much.

Wow. This is really interesting! I never would have thought that introducing non-native plants could cause so much damage. I just assumed that planting only native plants would benefit wildlife as a whole, but had no idea that planting the wrong things could mess things up so bad. Thank you for the insightful information, Steve!
